The below job description will outline this position of: Marine Mechanical Engineer

Typically, this person will be involved in all types of installation, maintenance and repair work.

Duties and responsibilities of the Marine Mechanical Engineer:

You will:

  • Fit and remove engines, gearboxes, and complete drive units
  • Install specific data logging equipment to Test units
  • Take receipt of engines and gearboxs from dyno, boat or testing.
  • Dismantle, inspect, identify, and record faults found using the correct method/systems.
  • Inspect test units and record / report any issues identified
  • Rig assembly and test components as required
  • Assist Test Engineers with the commissioning of Installations prior to the boat being released for testing
  • Ensure all relevant component information and serial numbers are recorded as required
  • Ensure all relevant faults are recorded and reported
  • Carry out Rig testing as required
  • Ensure all assembly checklists are completed as required during the assembly process ensuring that they are an accurate record of the work carried out
  • Assist with boat testing as required.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals
  • Carry out oil analysis sampling and analysis.
  • Assist with fault diagnosis both by looking at physical components and by using IT based systems.

Qualifications and requirement for the Marine Mechanical Engineer:

  • Apprenticeship in Marine or Automotive Engineering
  • Must have at least 5 years hands on experience assembling gearboxes, engines, or similar complex mechanical assemblies.
  • Should be proficient with Microsoft PC software packages. (Word-Excel)
  • Clean driving license
  • Previous experience of using Lathes, grinders, drills etc would be an advantage
  • Powerboat level 1 or 2 would be an advantage although training will be given if necessary.
