MAN Energy have had their approval for a 4 stroke engine which helps to support the dual-fuel conversion by operating on methanol. The system has the capacity to become carbon-neutral if synthesised with green hydrogen. In comparison, methanol is believed to cause less endangerment to marine life.

Patrizio Di Francesco said: “This AiP is based on our recently published Methyl Alcohol Fuelled Ready notation. Methanol is a fuel with a lot of potential as a clean, carbon-neutral fuel and the industry is already showing concrete appreciation of it. “
