With immediate effect offshore support vessels such as tugs, workboats, ferries and naval ships can use biofuels on MAN 175D engines after a formal approval from the manufacturer with no adjustments required to use the new fuels.

In three variants 12, 16 and 20 cylinders the MAN 175D engine is available with an output range of 1,500 to 4,400KW. MAN have said the engine was to outset with a rigid design to ensure the engine is compliant with future gas emissions including IMO Tier III by using a compact and flexible reduction system within the engine. MAN also said they prepare their engines for sustainable fuels for the future.
